There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall betting is against the law. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime location, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; however, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are apparently needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is real of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling den, features 150 slots and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that features numerous comforts in addition to the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
