There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is against the law. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; however, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are apparently required to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling hall, highlights 150 slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machines and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel compound that highlights numerous conveniences in addition to the gambling hall, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slots and eighty eight tables.
